Stunning Space
In this art box we look at three artists who have been particularly fascinated by mankind’s discoveries in outer space. Be inspired to create amazing astronauts, a diorama of abstract “planet” circles and arty aliens, and mosaic-like painted rockets blasting into space. Proudly created in partnership with The Science Museum.
What is inside 'Stunning Space'?
In 1877, when Jules Verne (author of Around the World in 80 Days) published a novel called Off on a Comet, he changed the way we look at space. For the book was illustrated with a painting by Paul Dominique Philippoteaux that imagined Saturn as more than just a point of light in the sky. Before that, nobody had depicted other planets as places that you could actually stand on—places that you could look up from, rather than at!
In this art box we start off with some blast-off projects, creating a rainbow rocket you can blow into the sky, and a colourful space craft. A planet diorama project includes painting some colour-filled planets and arty aliens. On some moon-landing projects, you can put together an amazing astronaut and a moon mobile. There are a few creative prompts to look into an asteroid-belt project with shiny stickers, dots and spots.

What art materials will I receive?
A set of water-colour paints and paint-brush, a pipette, coffee filters, a paper straw, metallic marker, black paper, water-colour paper and shiny stickers

When will my box be delivered?
Typically you will receive your box 3-4 days after ordering. Your order is processed in 48 hrs and usually posted using Royal Mail 48hr Tracked. You will receive an email with a tracking number, and can keep updated through the Royal Mail website.
